IMPRINT Principles & Standards
Principles:
At Imprint, we believe custom promotional products and accessories have the power to unite communities and bring people together. Our goal is to help customers create meaningful, impactful designs while respecting the diversity of perspectives that make each creation unique.
To ensure a balance between creative freedom and social responsibility, we follow a set of standards that consider both our customers' vision and the broader public impact. As a platform for self-expression, we take this responsibility seriously and are committed to handling it with care.
Standards:
Imprint’s Guidelines help customers navigate the design process for custom products. We evaluate designs on a dynamic spectrum, working collaboratively to ensure they align with our principles. Rather than rigid rules, these guidelines serve as a framework, with final approval resting with our Content Standards team. As part of our commitment to thoughtful creativity, we continuously review and refine our policies to stay current and responsible.
At Imprint, we are committed to maintaining responsible design standards. We will not produce designs when we have reasonable certainty that they:
- Infringe on intellectual property rights or violate copyright, trademarks, or patents.
- Contain false, fraudulent, or defamatory artwork or otherwise break legal regulations.
- Incite harm, violence, or abuse against individuals or groups, including dehumanizing artwork —except for authorized U.S. military-related content.
- Depict graphic violence or self-harm, with limited exceptions for historically significant artwork.
- Include hate speech, such as offensive, threatening, or degrading language, symbols, or visuals targeting race, religion, ethnicity, gender, disability, nationality, or sexual orientation.
- Encourage harassment or hatred toward private individuals, regardless of circumstances.
- Promote threats or physical harassment against public figures or their families or portray them in a discriminatory manner.
- Advocate for or glorify the use of illicit drugs.
- Display explicit sexual content or nudity unless intended for artistic, medical, or educational purposes.
- Feature sexually suggestive content involving minors.
- Condone or depict animal cruelty as defined by legal standards.
- Encourage underage consumption of alcohol, tobacco, or marijuana.
- Demonstrate extreme insensitivity toward individuals or communities experiencing grief or loss.
We carefully review all designs to ensure they align with these principles while upholding creative freedom in a responsible manner.
Imprint’s Design Review Standards
At Imprint, we carefully evaluate all designs and may request modifications or decline printing if they:
- Contain defamatory or slanderous statements.
- Use profanity or express hostility, anger, or harsh criticism toward public figures.
- Depict individuals as animals in a dehumanizing or violent manner.
- Feature crude vulgarity, explicit language, or offensive slang.
- Include sexual content or nudity, even if for artistic, medical, or educational purposes.
- Carry a strong sexual undertone, including suggestive or provocative imagery.
- Reference violent events, terms, or historical depictions of violence.
- Promote, endorse, or encourage illegal behavior.
- Defend alleged criminals or criminal acts.
- Advocate for one side in an ongoing legal dispute.
- Have the potential to incite public outrage or harm.
- Contain any other material deemed offensive or inappropriate for the Imprint community.
What We Do Support
Imprint welcomes and prints designs that:
- Use language and artwork suitable for all ages.
- Foster inclusivity and community without being offensive to any group or individual.
- Respect intellectual property rights, ensuring all artwork content is legally owned or authorized for use.
- Align with ethical fundraising efforts, where we verify that all campaign elements—including design, title, description, and beneficiary details—meet our standards.
We strive to maintain a balance between creative expression and responsible content, ensuring every design aligns with our values and commitment to quality.
